Jake and Amanda sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage. Jake and I have decided to create this blog to share our journey with family and friends. We will also be able to archive these blog entries as keep sakes for the future. This is our first try at parenthood and gladly accept any and all advice. We hope through this blog you will be able to laugh along the way, as we share our pregnancy, and first few years of Baby Schachle’s life. We are so excited and can't wait until August to meet our sweet baby girl!

9 Week Blog Entry:

The days up until this week have really crept by. This week we had our first OB appointment. Our appointment was on Friday morning at 8:30. We were so excited because we were going to get the chance to see our little baby on the “Big Screen”. Our first OB appointment lasted about 2 hours. They started from one end and went to the other… lol.  It was finally time for our ultrasound and the doctor was in position! We watched the TV screen in front of us as baby Schachle appeared! It was AMAZING! We could see the heart beating and his/her little arms and legs wiggling.  Just as soon as the doctor got a perfect shot of little baby, he/she wiggled and turned around giving us our first view of his/her backside (the side we will be wiping and diapering really soon). Tears filled my eyes as the doctor continued with the scan… what a wonderful gift Jake and I have been given! God is Great and we are so blessed! I pray every night for this sweet baby and the chance God has given me to experience a baby growing in my womb. It is the most incredible feeling in the world.  The ultrasound picture above is Baby Schachle at 9 weeks measuring right about 1 inch.

How your baby's growing:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.
Our journey to parenthood is in the making and what a precious gift we have been given!
