Jake and Amanda sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage. Jake and I have decided to create this blog to share our journey with family and friends. We will also be able to archive these blog entries as keep sakes for the future. This is our first try at parenthood and gladly accept any and all advice. We hope through this blog you will be able to laugh along the way, as we share our pregnancy, and first few years of Baby Schachle’s life. We are so excited and can't wait until August to meet our sweet baby girl!

8 week Blog Entry:

Baby and I have made it through 2 months already! It is still so hard to believe that I’m pregnant.  Pregnancy has been a breeze so far. I have been very blessed and thank God every day for this sweet baby and for a healthy pregnancy. So far I have had no morning sickness nor have I thrown up. I do have some typical pregnancy symptoms but nothing to complain about. My bedtime has changed from 9:30 to 8:30 due to the fatigue and my appetite has increased a TON! I’m super excited I don’t have to deal with the nausea/vomiting because man does food taste good when you’re pregnant!  Jake grilled some BBQ Chicken the other night and I sat at the table and drooled the whole time I ate it. It was delicious.
Enough about me already… Here is an update on Baby at 8 weeks:
How your baby's growing:
New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

The most exciting thing happened this week! I ordered a fetal doppler so we could listen to the baby’s heartbeat throughout the pregnancy.  Abigail and Zach came over after Church on Sunday and I was telling her all about my new fetal doppler. I pulled it out and showed it to her- She was impressed and wanted to try and listen to see if she could help find the baby’s heartbeat. I warned her that I had tried a few days ago and couldn’t find a heartbeat. I thought we were still a little too early to hear anything. It was worth a try so, we put the doppler on my belly and went to searching again… rolling it from left to right, up and down.   WOW! What did we find???  A sweet little heartbeat galloping about 160+ beats per minute. We were so excited!!! Abigail got out her phone and recorded baby Schachle’s heartbeat! It’s the sweetest sound I’ve ever heard! This made everything much more real.
Listen to me and Abigail as we hear Baby Schachle’s heartbeat for the first time.

Our plan throughout pregnancy is to take a belly picture every few weeks. It's amazing to see this little baby growing from the outside. Here is our 8 week picture:
