Jake and Amanda sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage. Jake and I have decided to create this blog to share our journey with family and friends. We will also be able to archive these blog entries as keep sakes for the future. This is our first try at parenthood and gladly accept any and all advice. We hope through this blog you will be able to laugh along the way, as we share our pregnancy, and first few years of Baby Schachle’s life. We are so excited and can't wait until August to meet our sweet baby girl!

It's a GIRL!

It’s a…  GIRL!  Yep, looks like we broke the track record!!! It’s been a long time since the Schachle family has welcomed a new baby girl into the family.  Mrs.Lynn is overjoyed… she finally gets to buy something PINK! I think we were both a little shocked to find out we were having a girl. Jake maybe a lot shocked. Lol. The first thing that went through my mind was we get to play dress up!

Now the fun begins. We get to start thinking about names and planning a nursery. We already have a few girl names in mind and hopefully can share her name with everyone within the next few weeks.

Our appointment on Friday went great. It was absolutely amazing to see this baby girl on the ultrasound moving all around. After a few flips she got snuggled up and literally folded in half. Below is a picture of her practicing gymnasticsJ.  Due to her position the ultrasound tech was unable to get a good image of her entire spine. That means we get another ultrasound within the next 1-2 weeks. I am so ready to see her again!

Jake and I decided to keep baby Schachle’s gender a surprise until Saturday night. We invited family and friends out to dinner and had a special dessert planned. Dessert was chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with pink filling. Each cupcake had a question mark on top. We went around the room and asked for everyone’s guess… 8 people said boy and 8 people said girl.  The countdown started- 3,2,1… then everyone bit into their cupcake! The room was filled with “ITS-A-GIRL, IT’S-A-GIRL!!” Everyone was so excited and half of the crowd shocked!

We had a few friends come to visit this weekend for our big announcement. Christin, Jason, Laura, Jeff, and baby Evan traveled to Fuquay for the event.  It is always a blast getting together and seeing everyone. It has been a few weeks since the last time we’ve seen Evan… and man is she growing. My favorite is her little chubby rolls! She is so CUTE! Evan is 5 and ½ months and sitting up all by herself, rolling over, eating baby food, and full of the cutest little baby giggles. Matt, Stacy, and Declan also joined us for the fun. Declan who is 3 is all boy and loves to get in Jake’s hunting closet and “Pow- Pow” the deer! He was so sweet playing with baby Evan. He shared all his toys with her and even tried to make her laugh by blowing the duck call walking around dressed in his camouflage.

Tax season will soon be over!! 3 more weeks and I get my husband back! I know Jake is ready to get out of that office and into the woods. This weather is getting the turkeys and Jake fired up. Hopefully these next few weeks will be a breeze for him and he can finally get some rest.

14 Weeks

The countdown begins! 16 more days until we find out if baby Schachle is a boy or a girl! We are super excited and can hardly wait. We took another belly picture on Sunday. It’s been 3 weeks since our last picture and you can defiantly tell this little baby is growing!

How your baby's growing at 14 weeks:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

I don’t think Gabe has any idea he’s going to be a Big Brother in just a few short months. He is such a lover and wants to be the center of attention all the time. It will be an adjustment for him, but I think he is going to be the best doggie big brother ever! Here is a picture of Gabe announcing his news!

This weekend was the Dixie Deer Classic.  Robert entered one of the deer he killed this fall and won an award for the number 1 non typical deer killed with the gun. Below is a picture of Robert, Jake, and Zach with the famous deer of the season. Congrats to Robert!!

Blog Update for 13 weeks - Sorry it's a week late.

12/13 Weeks:   What a busy week it’s been! The week started off with SNOW and ended with temperatures in the 70’s and thunderstorms! North Carolina weather… gotta love it! I’ve enjoyed getting a glimpse of spring!!  Jake not so much... this beautiful weather makes it hard for him concentrate as he day dreams about the upcoming turkey season. Last weekend was full of Birthdays! Zach’s birthday was Saturday (Feb 18th); we celebrated with dinner and spent time catching up with friends. On Sunday we had Matt, Stacy, and Declan over to celebrate Stacy and Declan’s birthday. We had so much fun playing with Declan’s new motorized helicopter. Time spent with family and friends is always a blast!
Pregnancy update:
I’m starting to feel more pregnant as my belly continues to POP :) I’m up 8lbs! Grow Baby Grow!
I’ve had a few issues with heart palpitations and tachycardia over the last few weeks. Making a baby is no easy task! We had our second OB appointment this morning. (Feb 24th) We are 13 weeks today! (Feb 24th)  The Doctor had some reassuring news. Palpitations are very normal during pregnancy as the blood volume increases and the work load on your heart doubles. He also said a woman’s heart rate will increase by 15 beats per minute during pregnancy. Good news – sounds like all my symptoms are to be expected when growing a baby :)
More exciting news:
Our next appointment has been scheduled for March 23rd. This will be the day we find out if Baby Schachle is a boy or girl! YAY, I can hardly wait! I’m so ready to pick out a color for the nursery and start thinking about baby names.
About the Baby: 13 Weeks
Your Baby : Your baby can make a fist and even suck his or her thumb this week—both skills that are über-cute during infancy ... and not so much at the age of 9. If you're really lucky, you might catch a glimpse of baby's thumb sucking on an ultrasound photo. That's a framer! Other exciting developments include:
Your baby's eyelids are fused shut to protect his eyes as they develop. His bones and skull are solidifying and soon itsy-bitsy ribs may appear. (Baby ribs! How cute is that?!) Baby's intestines are finally right where you want them—in his or her belly instead of poking out into the umbilical cord. Baby's tooth sockets are all loaded and ready to pop out baby teeth six or seven months after baby is born (causing baby a lot of pain and you a lot of lost sleep).
Who's that singing? Elton John? Could be your baby: His vocal cords and larynx are completed now.
Your baby-to-be now weighs about 20 grams and is nearly 3 inches long, or about the size of a Nutter Butter, covered in chocolate. OK, it doesn't have to be covered in chocolate, but isn't everything better that way?
Baby Belly Picture coming SOON! :)
